About the Position:

Bezos Family Foundation is looking for a Digital Content Strategist to join its Communications team. This individual brings excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences, creativity and an eye for design, and demonstrated experience managing and growing digital communications initiatives and/or programs.

This position is primarily focused on promoting early learning grantees on the Foundation’s website and social channels and elevating the Foundation’s in-house early learning programs—Vroom and Mind in the Making (MITM). Vroom is a global initiative that helps parents and caregivers turn everyday moments into brain-building moments; this role will serve an essential function of helping accelerate awareness and growth of communication channels and driving engagement with its content and digital tools. MITM shares the science of children’s learning through innovative in-depth training and materials geared for action; this role will help advise and support the MITM team on digital content strategy and engagement.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Execute inspirational and educational digital content and manage day-to-day digital activity, including social media accounts and digital advertising, ensuring alignment to brand and messaging standards and that information is communicated effectively.
  • Define priorities and plans in alignment with Foundation goals to increase digital awareness, growth and engagement with the Foundation’s early learning programs and partners including, but not limited to, use of content and materials, digital products, social media, stories, and events.
  • Create and manage an early learning editorial calendar, working with internal teams. This includes helping contribute to compelling content in written, visual and video formats for newsletters, websites and other communications.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors to create and implement strategies and campaigns to optimize engagement across for the Foundation’s early learning digital presence, including website(s), social and email.
  • Willing to work proactively and flexibly to support other organization projects outside of early learning, as needed.
  • Utilize various analytics tools to track performance of content, campaigns, channels, etc. and use data analysis to make strategic recommendations for improvements, in collaboration with teams.
  • Build and deploy newsletters and email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp and make necessary updates and changes to organization website(s) in the CMS.
  • Develop a social advertisement strategy and SEO strategy to increase the quantity and quality of site traffic.
  • Work within brand guidelines to help create persuasive images and visuals to help stories come to life.
  • Maintain an organized system of tracking, monitoring and prioritizing tasks and projects.
  • Stay on top of emerging trends related to the Foundation’s early learning grantmaking and programmatic priorities.
  • Participate in communications to senior audiences internal and external.



Required Experience and Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media or related field.
  • At least seven years of online communications experience, including three years of social media experience and/or content marketing.
  • Experience serving underrepresented and underserved communities and an understanding of the impact of institutional and structural racism and bias.
  • Familiarity with the early childhood education sector preferred but not required.
  • Experience with and passion for written communications, with a strong portfolio demonstrating ability to craft compelling written and visual digital content to drive growth, engagement and social change.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conceive, produce, and evaluate compelling communications materials and digital marketing plans tailored to different audiences and channels.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, social media management and scheduling tools, digital advertisement, and fostering online communities.
  • Excellent collaborator and communicator with strong project management skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in managing CMS content systems, building email templates and segments in email systems such as MailChimp, and SEO.
  • Proficiency with AP Style standards.
  • Well versed in using analytic tools like Google Analytics to inform content strategy and reach. 
  • Photography/design experience a plus, especially comfort in Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience with in-app marketing a plus.

A note about location and the pandemic: Bezos Family Foundation is located in downtown Seattle. While we will continue to follow federal, state and local public health guidance, as of now, employees are working remotely and are expected to be able to report to our Seattle office when it is deemed safe to do so.
